Introducing Masterclass: Next-Level Diamond Painting

What makes Masterclass so special? We can’t wait to share! Diamond Dotz Masterclass boasts meticulous design interpretation that’s made possible with the use of innovative materials – Mini Dotz, glitter print and feature gems – combined with our unique soft dotting technique. These materials plus the new dotting technique make the Diamond Dotz Masterclass collection one-of-a-kind – a true stand-alone in the diamond painting field, and a must-try for advanced diamond painters looking for their next challenge.

There are 10 show-stopping diamond painting designs in the inaugural Masterclass collection – ready to get to acquainted?

Meet Girl with the Pearl Earring – one of the stars of our initial collection. Girl with the Pearl Earring is adapted from the original painting of the same name (circa 1665) by Dutch painter, Johannes Vermeer.

We love this close-up image because it really speaks to the beauty – and ability – of Masterclass. The shading in the face is accomplished by using our new 2.0mm Mini Dotz (as a comparison, our regular Dotz are 2.8mm in size). You’ll use a special stylus to apply the Mini Dotz – the application technique is the same as standard dotting. In addition, the soft dotting technique allows intricate details because it follows the natural curves of the design vs. following a standard squared-off grid. So, it’s the size of the Mini Dotz, plus the soft dotting technique, that deliver these spectacular results – this is a unique part of the Diamond Dotz Masterclass experience. It’s what makes Masterclass masterful!

Now take another look. The graphic rendering on the left above outlines the areas where the Mini Dotz will be applied, and in the chin and cheek you can see where the soft dotting technique comes into play. (These renderings are available on the website item page for each Masterclass design – be sure to scroll through the images to see renderings like the above, plus videos and inspiring lifestyle photography. We have a lot of information for you!)

The image on the right side above shows the actual canvas for the Girl with the Pearl Earring. Again you can see that the areas where the Mini Dotz will be applied are outlined. When completely dotted, these areas will be exquisitely detailed because of this winning combination of innovative materials plus technique.

Here’s Ballerina in Butterfly Dress. What a mesmerizing design this is! You can get lost simply studying the butterflies that dance and float and make up her dress. This diamond painting also uses the Mini Dotz and soft dotting technique. The close-up image on the right side shows the incredible facial details that are achieved.

Now this design should look familiar – it’s The Kiss, adapted from the oil painting of the same name (circa 1908) by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. The original currently hangs in a museum in Vienna.

Again, take note of how the Mini Dotz and soft dotting technique achieve those realistic facial details. To further enhance this beauty there are many specialty gems incorporated throughout the design.

Another Klimt, and a lovely companion piece to The Kiss, it’s Tree of Life 1. All we can say about this one is WOW! This generously sized diamond painting canvas is 51 inches tall by 26 inches wide. It’s a statement piece for sure! The Tree of Life is an important work, suggesting the biblical Garden of Eden, the seasons, life and death.

The stand-out characteristics of this diamond painting are the gold glitter printed background, which is a nod to Klimt’s use of gold leaf in the original piece of art. Our Diamond Dotz Masterclass interpretation also incorporates many feature gems.

Diamond Dotz is enthusiastic about working with contemporary American artist, Russ Docken. This is our first interpretation of his art, Roses & Hummingbird, and it’s spectacular! Out of the gate, it has been extremely well received – it hits on two favorite themes after all with its floral-bird combination. We’re swooning!

A close look at the hummingbird reveals the area where the Mini Dotz and soft dotting technique are used – again illustrating how this combination of materials and technique delivers stunning details. Advanced dotters will be rewarded with intricate, realistic shading as this colorful hummingbird comes to life – it’s almost as if you can see it flutter!

FEATURES OF ROSES & HUMMINGBIRD: full coverage, use of Mini Dotz, use of soft dotting technique.

Another new artist in the fold – look at this whimsical piece interpreted from the art of British painter, Lesley Anne Ivory: it’s Manuel in the Christmas Robin Bag. Lesley Anne Ivory has a distinct style featuring realistic depictions of cats against detailed backgrounds.

Specialty feature gems are used in our diamond painting interpretation, to honor the original artwork (see those sparkling stars on the gift box).

We have interpreted several pieces from American equine artist Laurie Prindle into Diamond Dotz diamond painting kits, and three of her artworks are part of our inaugural Masterclass collection – lucky us!! Several of the canvases in the Masterclass collection boast a generously sized diamond painting canvas, and this is one of them. Just look how magnificent Herald of Spring looks as the canvas is opened and unrolled! It certainly has a presence!

Herald of Spring is approximately 53 inches wide by 26 inches tall, and prances to life with 110,000+ Dotz, commanding attention wherever it is displayed. It certainly is intriguing to behold, provoking both thought and discussion!

Feature gems are included in this Masterclass diamond painting kit – they really give texture and sparkle to our interpretation. If you have not worked with specialty gems yet, they are easy to work with, and place, because of their larger size. Masterclass kits include two sets of tweezers for working with feature gems and getting them in the perfect position on the canvas.

FEATURES OF HERALD OF SPRING: full coverage, use of specialty gems.

Meet Seretse! It’s another interpretation of Laurie Prindle’s art, and yet another stunner! Seretse is a partial-coverage diamond painting, which is a purposeful treatment allowing the fantastical Seretse to take center stage – nearly jumping off of the canvas. We think it works quite well!

Seretse is quite magical with many feature gems. The detail is quite glorious, achieved with the soft dotting technique; the total gem count on this piece is just over 29,000 Dotz.

FEATURES OF SERETSE: partial coverage, use of specialty gems, use of soft dotting technique.

Finally, it’s Soraya! The third Laurie Prindle artwork in the Masterclass premium diamond painting collection. Soraya is dancing and ready – can you tell? Soraya is a full coverage design with gold glitter print details. Soraya and Seretse make a dynamic pair for sure … if you’re up for the challenge!

FEATURES OF SORAYA: full coverage, use of Mini Dotz, use of soft dotting technique, gold glitter print.

The last piece in our premium Masterclass collection is Kyoto Beauty. This has been a favorite design in the standard Diamond Dotz collection, but with the inclusion of the Mini Dotz paired with the soft dotting technique, the serene facial expression of this beauty is captured in Dotz, and in perfect detail at that. The feature gems on the gown paired with a black glitter print background make this a truly rich interpretation.
